St Mary Magdalene was founded by Thomas de Omer, the owner of the Manor at that time. The manor passed to Sir William de Hoo who re-built the nave and tower in the 14th century. He had adorned the windows with portraits of himslef, of his wife Alice, and of her family, and their arms.
